The Mack Clan is the only rap group I can think of to come out of Daly City, which I guess shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. But it’s so close to South San Francisco that maybe people have claimed (South) San Francisco when they’re really from Daly City. Who knows?!

Are there really dudes claiming south city over daly city? they are separated by a mountain and graveyards. I don’t know that just seems kind of pointless, like being from south city is some how more legit because you’re closer to the airport? Do people in Brisbane claim Oyster Point?

I recall hearing that Cougnut (or C-Fresh) was from Diamond Heights or Glen Park, but moved to Lakeview?

Anyway, Lakeview and the Excelsior are what I like to call Basically Daly City.

cool window into the thought process as “Five On It” was blowing up. The Luniz had this insane street buzz even before that record dropped, but when a song takes off like that, you just try to capitalize on it as quickly as possible, and sometimes it’s a little too late. It’s kind of crazy how the remix just added another level of success, even longer legs on what was already a smash. And now all you ever hear is the remix, I went back to the original version a little while ago and was surprised how seldom you hear it anymore.

Audio of the battle here and a really dope two-part video of an impromptu interview with Saafir shot on the street outside Q-Bert’s house in San Francisco a month after the battle.

That Source shit is dope.

But at this point I want the real dirt. From in-studio scuffles to .22 throwaways in the parking lot to getting thrown through the window of Ya Mama’s Cafe to stolen wallets at the Crash Palace and I-fucked-your-girl rumors. Who’s parent was who’s lawyer, etc. That kind of shit.
